Winter will soon be over. I do manage to get in some walking and hiking during the cold months, it’s just not as much as I would like. During the down time, I daydream of the next opportunity to hit the trail.

That is what I’m doing today….Day Dreaming! When I’m thinking about my next hike I reach for the book ‘Hiking Kansas City’ by William B. Eddy & Richard O. Ballentine. A guide to 125 walking and hiking trails located around the Kansas City Metro.

In a nut shell, Hiking kansas city is a great resource for finding a paved walking trail in a city park, to the ‘overlooked’ natural terrain trails within the city limits and beyond.

Hiking Kansas City, Helps get you to the trail head, where to park, and what to expect on your hike. in Most cases, there are very simple crude maps of trails provided.

Over the years trails change, even trail heads are re-located. Sometimes I have trouble with the directions provided. So I make finding the trail itself part of the adventure!

Have lived around the Kansas City area for close to twenty years, been walking and hiking only the trails i knew close to home…until I discovered this book! So many places to walk I never knew or thought about. I pick this book up several times a week to plan my next outing. If you are new to the area, or have lived in the KCMO area all your life, I think you will discover some great places to get out and enjoy!

Podcasting, It’s Something to do….I Guess!

Ok, so Today it’s still cold here in Western Missouri.  No real reason to go outside, so I started digging through some boxes sure to hold some forgotten treasures.  Sure enough I found my headphones from when I worked at KMZU Radio. Nice!  A little further down the pile I found a microphone purchased on Ebay, I just had to have.  Still deeper was a small audio mixer that at the time was too good of deal pass up.

Note that I said I found all this in boxes hidden away. a waste really!  So today I pieced it all together, and it all works.  Now it’s possible to record at my desk…..what to do with it?   How about starting another project….like podcasting!  Why not!?!?!  Yes Why Not!  I’ve posted audio on the website before, but that was when I worked in radio and had a ‘something’ to say. Today, Sitting here at my desk….what is there to say that would be of interest to anyone?  A sure bet would be….Not Much, but let’s do it anyway!

So check back occassionally, to see if I really follow through on this or if all this audio equipment just ends up being more clutter on my desk!

Chance for a New Start!

December 17th, 2013 started like many other days….Exhausted before the day even started!  Sitting in my company truck, just off the phone from the morning conference call,  Already feeling the pressure of deadlines.  The ticket load showing on my laptop increasing by leaps and bounds with each refresh.  Company cell ringing non-stop with notifications of additional unplanned workload.

The ‘Hopeless, Helpless, Unprepared to take on the World alone feeling’ I had been struggling with became too much….Broken, I made the call.  That day would be my last.

The next day, I started a new job…..That of finding employment.  I am still holding down that position as I type this.

With a daily routine in place, I work at…..well, finding work.  The search consumes a vast majority of my day.  However, I am also able to take ‘long breaks’ during the day to also do things I find of interest, like refreshing my brain on mysql databases, linux, ssh, Rivendell Radio Automation software and a whole laundry list of computer based topics.

It also dawned on me that I have several websites (this site being one of them) that have been ignored for way too long, so I am adding the maintenance of those sites to my ‘work day’ to-do list.

Alrighty then, break over! back to the Search!
