Powell, 71, of Evansville, passed away Monday, July 20, 2009, at St. Mary&#8217;s Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p>He retired from Whirlpool after more than thirty years of service. Fred was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and assisted with the soup kitchen at St. Johns Church downtown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was an accomplished woodworker, making furniture and clocks, and he enjoyed traveling. Fred was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family.<\/p>\n<p>Fred is survived by his wife of forty seven years, Sandra Branch Powell, of Evansville; son, Scott Powell and fianc\u00e9, Krista Chapman McFerren, of Carrollton, MO; daughter, Julie Powell Thomas, of Newburgh, IN; grandchildren, Shelby and Shariden Powell, and Jarrett and Josh Thomas; sisters, Nelda Day, of Tell City, IN, Dorothy Jennings, of New Albany, IN, Marilyn Kenny, of Shepherdsville, KY; and brother Richard Boling, of New Albany, IN.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Nellie Powell, brothers, Clarence<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_725\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/scottpowellonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/fred_powell_1989.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-725\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-725 \" alt=\"Fred Powell 1989\" src=\"http:\/\/scottpowellonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/fred_powell_1989-300x234.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"http:\/\/scottpowellonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/fred_powell_1989-300x234.jpg 300w, http:\/\/scottpowellonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/fred_powell_1989.jpg 604w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-725\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fred Powell 1989<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Powell, and Randell and Scott Boling; sisters, Stella Vega, Vine Rodermond, Pearl Mils, Christeen Hobbs, Eva May Days, Evelyn Wittmer, and Gaile Marie Powell.<\/p>\n<p>Services will be Thursday, July 23, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1301 S. Green River Rd., with Father Bernie Etienne officiating.<\/p>\n<p>Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2009, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S.
